American broadcast icon and global celebrity, Larry King is dead.
He died this morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, Los Angeles. Larry was 87 years old.
Larry’s broadcasting career spanned 63 years starting from radio in 1957.
He hosted Larry King live on CNN starting from 1985 to 2010. Through his signature show, he made the Guinness book of world records, a Peabody and Emmy
awards.
Unknown to many, Larry King was an international philanthropist. He had set up a foundation for
heart disease after suffering a heart attack.
A Nigerian girl who never met Larry King had her university education paid for by Larry King.
She finally met him on the day of her graduation from Howard University.
Two weeks ago Larry was admitted to the hospital for covid 19 infections.
Last year Larry lost a son to heart attack and a daughter to cancer.
During his career, Larry interviewed presidents and Heads of States, celebrities, sports stars, actors and even ordinary people.
He was married seven times, the last one being Shawn King.
