There was chaos at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja Monday morning as air travellers went berserk and destroyed airlines’ counters and other facilities of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The passengers went haywire over flight delay and cancellations.
Recall that at the weekend, some of the passengers also violently entered the tarmac of the airport in an attempt to board a Dana Air aircraft to Lagos, thereby throwing into the winds all the safety and security protocols.
At the Lagos Airport, the situation is not so different as some of the air travellers were stranded at the airport due to inadequate equipment by virtually all the airlines.
On average, a one-way ticket is sold for N100,000 by most of the airlines.
Recall also that passenger traffic has increased at the various airports owing to the Christmas festivities and most of the airline companies appear to be overwhelmed.
Also, the prevailing insecurity in the country, especially fears of getting kidnapped or attacked by bandits have forced many passengers to go for air travels despite the huge cost implications.
