Grace Yakubu, the winner of Miss Naija crown royal ambassador, has entered into a partnership with Redstone Estate and Adenbyintra, a conglomerate, to fight poverty through the provision of quality education to women and young girls.
Also being part of the partnership that will run from 2023 to 24 through the Agaba Ikwue Foundation, Princess Chidinma Okonkwo, the winner of Miss Naija Universe, will also serve as an ambassador.
Speaking during the unveiling of the queens and the official signing of the deal, Agaba Ikwue, chief executive officer (CEO) of Redstone Estate and Adenbyintra, said the conglomerate has set aside 10 percent of its annual profit for charity.
Ikwue added that the queens would help the organisation in its efforts to give back to society through poverty eradication and education.
“We are happy to unveil our ambassadors. One is Miss Naija, Grace Yakubu and Miss Naija universe, Princess Chidinma Okonkwo,” he said.
“This is a project that is aimed at empowering young Nigerians, especially young women.
“We realised that African culture is more disadvantageous to women. If we can harness the power of women, we can move forward.
“From the same society where I have benefited from, I feel I should give back. That’s why I am encouraging young women to use the opportunity to empower others for the next 12 months.
“You are to prove to the world that you are not only intelligent, and beautiful but powerful.
“Since Nigeria is faced with so many Illnesses, child mortality, and economic crisis and we just came out of the pandemic, we want the queens to prove to the world they have something to offer.
“The eyes of the world are on you, do not let us down. You must watch your public conduct. Project a national identity.”
He added that the conglomerate which is into engineering, is committed to eradicating poverty through education.
“We are fighting poverty through quality education. We also engage in empowering widows and orphans in collaboration with the Methodist Church,” he said.
“We partner with the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) to build computer centres in the six geopolitical zones for female students who are interested in studying sciences to learn.
“So, the queens will partner with us to project and encourage young ladies to study science.”
Speaking at the event, Grace Yakubu, who is Miss Naija 2023, expressed commitment to helping women and young girls realising their dreams through education and empowerment.
