Garuba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President said in a statement on Wednesday that he is stable after undergoing treatment and surgery at Cedarcrest Hospital, Area 11.
“President Buhari’s son, Yusuf, was involved in a bike accident last night around Gwarimpa in the FCT, Abuja.
He broke a limb and had an injury to the head as a result. He has undergone surgery at a clinic in Abuja. He is in a stable condition,” Shehu said in the statement.
Shehu also debunked news that the President’s son had been flown abroad for treatment.
In response to a text to confirm if Yusuf has been flown to a specialist Hospital abroad replied, “That is not true pls.”
But reliable sources at the Presidency however told our Correspondent that Presidency is already putting an air ambulance on standby to take Yusuf to German.
“An air ambulance may take him out of the country any moment,” said one of the sources
He was involved in a power bike crash on Tuesday night as he was racing with a friend in the capital city.
“Yusuf was trying to overtake his friend when he suddenly veered off the road and skidded. He lay there unconscious for a while before the first lady was alerted,” a family source who preferred anonymity said.
Goodluck Jonathan, former President and other top government functionaries have been offering prayers for his quick recovery.
