Words of wisdom: Beloved I pray that you may prosper in every way and may keep well even as your soul keeps well and prospers. 3 John 2.
Life point: Prosper with purpose!
One of God’s most fervent desires for us is that we prosper in our souls. This means He wants us to mature spiritually, to be fully grown in mind, will, and emotions. He wants us to think with the mind of Christ and according to His Word. Where we are able to do this, we can separate our emotions from decisions we need to make and use our will to line up our lives with His will for us.
To the degree that we do that, He also wants us to prosper and be healthy in all areas of life. There has been a great deal of discussions over whether God wants His children to prosper. Some believe poverty is a virtue, while others believe that all Christians should be rich.
I do not believe in either one of those extremes. I believe we should concentrate on spiritual maturity and keep God first in our lives and He will gladly give us everything we need to live happy, generous, blessed and prosperous lives. God is more concerned with how we behave than what we own.
Mathew told us to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness and all these things would be added to us. God wants us to have things as long as things do not have us. Yes God wants us to be very blessed and He wants us to be a blessing to other people. We are to have prosperity with a purpose.
God told Abraham that He would bless him and make him a blessing causing him to dispense good to others.
How can anyone be a blessing if he or she has not first been blessed? We cannot give away something we do not have. The Bible says that Abraham was extremely wealthy, so it is obvious to me that God has no problem with His servants prospering in every way, including materially, as long as they can handle it properly.
The question often surfaces,“If God wants us to have prosperity, is a poor person guilty?” Of course, a poor person can be godly, but we do not have to worship poverty.
Sick people can be godly, but that does not keep them from seeking healing. Love God with all your heart no matter what your station is in life, but seek His best and use it for His purposes.
Hallelujah to the Lamb of God!
Prayer: Lord empower me to know You and Your power of resurrection in Jesus Christ name!
