More facts have emerged into why President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the sack of Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu from his position as Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment.
Sources who preferred anonymity revealed to Elendureports that Argungu was alleged to have been a clog in the wheel of progress regarding the implementation of the 774,000 jobs promised by the Federal Government at the local government levels.
He was believed to be delaying the payment of beneficiaries of the scheme, a development that angered the presidency.
Recall that since the aftermath of the #EndSARS Protest, the Federal Government had vowed to do all in its powers to prevent a reoccurrence.
To this end, it has been pursuing youth-oriented programs meant to engage a good number of them, including pleading with the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, to shelve its indefinite strike in the interest of the country.
Our source said, “Buhari ordered the sack of Argungu for undermining his supervising Minister, Festus Keyamo and delaying take-off/payments to beneficiaries of the 774,000 SPW job”.
Although the directive to sack the NDE Boss was given on Friday, the 4th of December, 2020, it becomes effective from Monday, December 7th, 2020, a statement by Garba Shehu had indicated.
Meanwhile, the Supervising Minister of the Agency, the Hon Minister of State, Labour and Employment, was directed to nominate an Acting DG from amongst the most Senior Directors based on competencies and seniority to take over from Dr Argungu until a substantive holder of the post is appointed by Mr President.
