Security operatives acting under a court order to shut down the headquarters of Leadership newspaper and claim all properties within its premises on Thursday paralysed editorial activities at the newspaper outfit when they stormed the place to carry out the court order.
The action followed a four year court judgement in favour of one Senator Isah Mohammed from Niger State who had filed a libel suite against the newspaper.
He won the case and was awarded N100 million as damages.
Elendu Reports gathered that security operatives stormed the head office of Leadership Newspaper in Utako, Abuja on Thursday at about 8 am.
The armed policemen who raided the newspaper building carted away computers, documents, and printers from the newsroom and administrative department.
Our correspondent observed that certain vehicles belonging to the media organization were also confiscated by them.
According to eye witness report, impunity reign in the premises as the security operatives drank coke, water, stole phone chargers, slippers and waters at the GMD office, Abdul Gombe.
The pre-press section of Leadership Newspaper was not affected by the raid.
Staff of the Newspaper are currently working for free as they are being owed for more than 20 months.
Elendu Reports can authoritatively report that the editorial staff were recently paid quarter salary, after over 20 months of non-payment of their salary.
Sam Nda Isaiah, Pharmacist turned publisher, who is one of newspaper publishers known for treating their staff shabbily and rakes in millions on a daily bases but intentionally refuses to pay his staff.
He was also alleged by his staff to rob John to pay Paul as he donate over N300,000 monthly to six orphanage homes.
The publisher of Leadership Newspaper, Sam Nda Isiah, has been the subject of scrutiny since some staff of the company instituted a court action against him for unfairly dismissing them and refusing to pay their backlogs of salaries.
