An Abuja Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of online publisher Omoyele Sowore in Kuje prison pending hearing Tuesday on his application for bail.
Sowore, a former presidential candidate along with four others were arraigned Monday at the Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja on a three-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others.
The development comes on the heels of their arrest by the police for leading a protest against bad governance on New Year’s Eve in Gudu area of Abuja.
In his chat with newsmen, Sowore restated media reports that he and four others were detained at a facility of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit in the federal capital territory where they were allegedly assaulted while in custody.
