Seun Kuti, afro beat musician has tuned himself into the Lagos police command after the inspector general of police, Usman Baba Alkali ordered his arrest for assaulting an officer in Lagos.
Seun, the son of the late afro beat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti appeared in a viral video over the weekend where he slapped a police officer.
The incident attracted public condemnation and the IGP ordered his arrest.
On Monday morning, Benjamin Hudeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos police command, said Seun turned himself in accompanied by his lawyer and family representatives.
Hudeyin said the musician was placed under arrest.
“Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative. He has been placed under arrest, ” he said .
