Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has announced that civil servants in the state would start receiving new salaries from the end of October.
Gboyega Akosile, the media aide to the governor, said the salary increment would be determined before the end of October.
“Lagos State Governor @jidesanwoolu announces salary increase to enthusiastic Lagos State workforce. The salary increment will be determined before the end of October. The HOS @hmokunola_ and Min of Establishment will work out the details,” Akosile wrote on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
In a video of him addressing a mammoth crowd of civil servants, Sanwo-Olu said he knew that there was inflation in the country.
“At our cabinet meeting, I instructed the Office of Head of Service and the Ministry of Establishment to start to work on how we are going to increase the entire salary. The pressure of inflation, I’m aware. We are not going to wait for the Federal Government, this is Lagos,” the Governor told the ecstatic crowd.
