The Igbo socio, cultural and political group, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide has raised alarm at the spate of violence in the South East Nigeria.
In a statement signed by Amb. George Obiozor, President General and Amb. Okey Emuchay, Secretary General, Ohaneze condemned “in strong terms the killings that took place at Igbariam, Anambra State.
“Such dastardly acts are not in Igbo character.”
They charged the security agencies to flush out the perpetrators of the Igbariam massacre and bring them to book.
Ohaneze, in its statement opined that the violence in the South East is being orchestrated by powerful forces who want to use it as an excuse to invade Igbo land.
“Ohaneze reviewed incidents of criminalities that have occurred in the South East of Nigeria in the recent past and concludes that going by the sophistication and capacity of the likely perpetrators that some powerful elements or groups could be deliberately orchestrating violence to justify preplanned and predetermined invasion of South East Nigeria.”
The Ohaneze requested Pres. Muhammadu Buhari to direct security agencies to investigate the sophistication and nature of the crimes in the South East.
