The Management of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has debunked the news of an attempted kidnap on its campus on Wednesday.
The news was making the rounds on social media that a kidnap was attempted on the main campus of the university on Wednesday.
In a video uploaded obtained by Elendu Reports, two young men were seen lying face down on the floor and tied by security personnel of the institution, a lady was also seen sitting and surrounded by people.
The management, however, in a press statement debunked the allegation saying the incident was a case of social misconduct and physical assault between students.
“The Management, University of Lagos (UNILAG) wishes to inform the general public that the rumor about an attempted kidnap within the university campus is FALSE,” the statement read.
“The incident was a case of social misconduct and physical assault between students, in which one party attempted to flee the scene and was apprehended by the University security towards the Onike gate axis of the University.”
The statement further assured parents of how students safety remains a priority to the institution
“The case is being handled by the Security Unit and Division of Students Affairs. The Vice-Chancellor and University Management wish to assure our dear students, parents, and the public that the security and safety of all students remain a priority at the University of Lagos.
