Dr Ezra Yakusak, Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), says the total revenue generated from non-oil products exported between January to June 2022 was $2.5billion.
Dr Yakusak revealed this on Friday in Abuja as part of activities heralding preparations for the forth-coming NEPC Export Week.
He said it was the highest revenue generated in the last four years.
According to him, Nigeria ought to embrace the export of non-oil products if the economic development of Nigeria must be guaranteed.
“Nigerians must begin to come to terms with that the only way we can wriggle out of our woes and guarantee economic prosperity is through non-oil export,” he said.
On the maiden edition of the NEPC Export Week slated for November 21 – 26, 2022, Yakusak stressed that the event is being packaged in line with “the current management’s strategic efforts of imbibing, sustaining and deepening an export culture in the non-oil export ecosystem.”
“The conference is expected to provide a veritable platform for stakeholders in the non-oil export sector to expose ideas on current and emerging issues affecting the non-oil export sector.”
