The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of candidates that sat for its 2017 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination.
The results, which recorded over 70 per cent candidates performance in Mathematics and English Language, were announced by Charles Uwakwe, Registrar of the Council, in Minna, Niger State.
According to the head of the examination body, a total of 42, 429 candidates sat for the examination in 28 subjects.
Giving a breakdown of the performance of candidates in the examination, Uwakwe said 32, 917 candidates representing 77.58 per cent had five credits irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
Speaking further, the NECO boss said 32, 701 candidates representing 78.82 per cent had credit and above in Mathematics while 29, 258 candidates representing 70 per cent had credits and above in English Language.
On the level of malpractices recorded in the examination, Uwakwe stated that there was about 6 percent reduction in the ugly incident when compared to last year, as 4,425 candidates, representing 10.43 per cent were involved in the act.
He lauded the efforts of stakeholders and staff of the examination body for the timely release of the results.
His words: “It will please the general public to know that this is the first time the council is releasing result of Nov/Dec SSCE results barely 38 days after the test.
“The early and timely release of the 2017 Nov/Dec SSCE result is in line with the council new work ethos that borders on efficient service delivery.”
Uwakwe called on candidates to access their results on NECO Website – www.mynecoexams.com, using their examination registration numbers and the council approved result checker.
The results reveal that candidates from Ogun, Akwa Ibom and Oyo states recorded best performance in the examination with 91. 42 per cent, 87.97 per cent and 86.90 percent respectively.
