Buruji Kashamu, a Senator representing Ogun State at the National Assembly has condemned the formation of a parallel national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) christened Fresh PDP, calling it is illegal, undemocratic and anti-progress.
He said no matter the provocative injustices witnessed at the recently concluded convention, resulting to self help and illegal manipulations is primitive, uncivilized and clear invitation to anarchy.
Kashamu disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, where he stressed that the creation of the Seriake Dickson reconciliation committee is a welcome development and very commendable.
He also advised that the committee alongside political solutions should endeavour to be guided by respect for rule of law, noting that it is sacrosanct in modern day democracy and civilised world.
Kashamu stated: “Undeniably, the Makarfi caretaker committee administration was the worst in the annals of the PDP. An extremely deplorable era, Sen Makarfi presided over the party with unimaginable impunity, indefensible disobedience of valid court orders and judgements, refusal to uphold democratic established order and practices; crowned with selfishly parochial dissolution and manipulations of existing party state structures and consequent creation of amenable convention delegates.
“As deplorable as the Makarfi assault on our party is, the formation of a parallel national leadership christened as Fresh PDP, is totally condemnable. It is illegal, undemocratic and anti-progress. I strongly advise the architects of that contraption to quickly disband same and channel their grievances and claims to the constituted authority of our party and if found inevitably desirable, to approach the courts for judicial adjudication.
“No matter the provocative injustices, I shall remain irrevocably an advocate of adherence to law and established due process. Resulting to self help and illegal manipulations is primitive uncivilized and clear invitation to anarchy.
“This was my position when Sen Makarfi irresponsibly dissolved the Ogun PDP exco in disobedience to a validly substituting high court judgement and multi orders to the contrary. It might be long and torturous to obtain judicial vindication over injustice, but adherence to rule of law remains the best and most certain option to curb illegality and unjustifiable aggression.
” In that Ogun instance, the contemptuous illegal parallel exco leaders were unavoidably arrested by the police and charged to court. To avoid same occurrence happening to these illegal parallel national leadership promoters of “Fresh PDP, I strongly enjoin them to quickly retrace their steps and align with law and order.
“Very importantly, I sincerely wish to advise Prince Uche Secondus, the PDP National Chairman, to eschew the parochial leadership style of Sen Makarfi in seeking to illegally compensate aspirational allies at the expense of perceived adversaries. He should endeavour to eminently be Nati Chairman of all PDP members provably in actions and deeds. Given his longstanding party administration experience and diverse political exposures, I believe Prince Secondus should have no problems providing this envisaged leadership handling.
“While it’s unquestionable to react to the “Fresh PDP” matter within the dictates of the law, it’s also enviably commendable for the National Chairman to personally engage them for superior logic and better reasoning of need to uphold the established due process, to prevail.”
