Five more passengers of the Abuja, Kaduna train have been freed by terrorists.
The abducted passengers were released on Tuesday, according to Tukur Mamu, the Publisher of Desert Herald newspaper, who has been negotiating with the terrorists.
Among those released was Prof Mustapha Umar Imam, a medical doctor at the Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUS), Sokoto.
Others Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai, Mukthar Shu’aibu and Sidi Aminu Sharif.
Prof. Imam was recently shot during a ‘friendly’ fire while in the custody of the terrorists.
Mamu said he voluntarily engaged in negotiating the release of the train victims but backed out due to threats to his life, personal integrity and lack of support from the Federal Government.
He confirmed the release of five additional victims of the AK9 Train attack.
Mamu said all the five released victims were in his Kaduna office on Tuesday afternoon immediately after their release to thank him for his past efforts.
Terrorists attacked the Abuja, Kaduna train with explosives in March this year and abducted about 65 passengers.
