The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has requested Usman Baba Alkali, the inspector general of police (IGP) to commence an immediate investigation into the conduct of Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Adamawa, over what the commission called “unwholesome behaviour”.
Rising from a meeting on Tuesday also asked the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) to recommend Yunusa-Ari to the appropriate authorities for disciplinary action.
The electoral umpire said that the topic discussed at the meeting was mainly on the controversial governorship election in Adamawa, saying that collation of the result which was suspended following the REC’s announcement at the time the results were not complete, will resume at a time to be determined by the Returning Officer.
