AHMED Ibeto, Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa who just resigned his position, did not hand over before leaving South Africa for Nigeria, Elendu Reports has learnt
Multiple sources at the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa told our Correspondent that Ibeto never informed the Consular General at the Commission as well as his staff in Pretoria about his departure from the post.
They further disclosed that the former deputy governor of Niger State did not also take leave of the South African authorities as should be expected.
“Ambassador Ibeto should be located and requested to return to South Africa to do the proper thing,” a source said
“Otherwise the South African authorities will be reluctant to process the agreement for a new High Commissioner,” he added
One of the sources remarked that Ambassador Buba Marwa left South Africa “in this fashion years ago, a development he said, “delayed the processing of agreement for late Ambassador Yusuf.”
Elendu Reports had reported that Ibeto arrived Nigeria from Pretoria on Sunday and on Monday morning handed over his letter of resignation at the Ministry of External Affairs.
Sources in Minna, capital city of Niger State say Ibeto resigned from the position and joined the PDP to be able to contest for the state’s governorship in 2019.
