The Department of State Security (DSS) has invited Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The suspension of Bawa by President Bola Tinubu was announced at the close of business on Wednesday.
In a statement, Willie Bassey, director of information, office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said Bawa was suspended to allow for a proper investigation into his conduct while in office.
He said the suspension followed “weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him”.
A few hours to 12:00 am, Thursday, the DSS announced that Bawa had arrived “a few hours ago” at their custody in Abuja.
Peter Afunanya, the spokesperson of the DSS, said Bawa was invited over “some investigative activities against him.”
Four days ago, the DSS also announced having in custody Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
