Aretha Franklin, popularly known as the Queen of Soul is dead. She died at the age of 76.
Ms. Franklin had been diagnosed with cancer. Her friends and fans did not know of this diagnosis as she did not make it public.

Ms. Franklin performed at the inaugural ceremonies of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
The song at King’s funeral was “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.”
Civil Rights leader, Rev. Jesse Jackson visited Aretha Franklin two days before her death.
