Nigerian students under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Monday morning took their protest against the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to the Mohammed Murtala Airport in Lagos.

The protesting students, in their large numbers, blocked the airport road.

This newspaper reported that NANS had recently vowed to mobilise its members from across the country to occupy the Federal Ministry of Education complex in Abuja if the Federal Government failed to find a lasting solution to the ongoing strike by members of ASUU.

“Federal Government through Ministry of Education should within a few working days resolve the lingering ASUU strike. We shall mobilise our students towards occupying the ministry of education until our demands are met,” Umar Faruk, the president of NANS, threatened while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

The students had earlier last week blocked the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, forcing many motorists to be stranded while others spent hours on the road.

A video of the protest at the airport is shared by the Nigerian Tribune.
