THE All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to hold its nationwide congresses to elect delegates to the national convention on Saturday, September 8.
President Muhammadu Buhari who has indicated interest to run for the second term in the office would test his popularity during the convention to pick the party’s presidential ticket.
This is contained in a letter by the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, dated August 17 addressed to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu.
Oshiomhole in the letter also indicated that the party also proposed to hold its governorship primary election on September 24.
“This serves as a formal notification pursuant to the provisions of section 85 of the electoral act 2010 as amended. Kindly arrange your officials to monitor the exercise accordingly. While hoping to receive your cooperation, please accept the assurances of my highest esteem,” Oshiomhole noted in the letter.
The proposed dates for the primaries are as follow
September 8: Nationwide congresses to elect delegates to the national convention
September 19: National convention to elect the party’s presidential candidate.
September 19: House of representatives candidates.
September 20: Senatorial candidates.
September 24: Governorship candidates.
September 29: House of assembly candidates. Okorafor advocated for a total compliance with the guidelines by stakeholders and also highlighted the eligibility criteria for participation in the facility/CP programme, as well as the responsibilities of the stakeholders; just as he reiterated the CBN’s determination towards the encouragement of projects that will further enhance Nigeria’s import substitution strategies.
