President Muhammadu Buhari has joined all citizens of the United States of America in prayers for the quick and full recovery of President Donald Trump and his wife, Melanie, who reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
The President in a statement by Garba Sheu, his media aide, noted, with sympathy, that the incident of COVID-19 in the White House manifests the challenge posed by the pandemic across the world, and difficulty in containing the spread.
While wishing the American First Family a speedy turnaround in their current health status, President Buhari urged more compliance among Nigerians to protocols, and adherence to the advice of medical doctors, particularly epidemiologists.
President Trump and his wife, Melania were tested after presidential aide, Hope Hicks tested positive for the virus.
Ms. Hicks is a very close aide of the American president and travels with him regularly.
Hope Hicks travelled with the President on Marine 1 and Airforce 1 on Wednesday.
As of Thursday morning, there had been rumours that Hope Hicks was ill. Ms Hicks positive test was not revealed until late Thursday night after an American news organisation, Bloomberg, broke the news.
The president and first lady are in quarantine at 1600, Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC, the official residence of the American president.
