The report that the Imo State House of Assembly complex was on fire today, Sunday, April 25 is not true, the state government has said.
There are reports that the Imo House of Assembly complex was on fire.
Elendu Reports spoke exclusively with Nnamdi Anyahie, chief of staff to Gov. Hope Uzodinma, Sunday night.
He told Elendu Reports that the Imo State House of Assembly to the best of his knowledge was not on fire.
“I have heard these stories and I can tell you it’s not true. People are trying to cause panic but it’s not true. The House of Assembly is not on fire,” said Nnamdi Anyahie.
Elendu Reports also spoke to another source in Owerri who told our reporter that they have heard the story but it did ” not match what we are seeing here in Owerri. The House of Assembly is not on fire. If it were we would know.”
You would recall that the country home of Gov. Hope Uzodinma in Omuma was set ablaze on Saturday by unknown gunmen.
Property worth hundreds of millions of naira were lost to the fire including a Rolls Royce Phantom car valued at least one hundred and twenty million naira.
Also, there have been reports that two security men lost their lives to the perpetrators of the fire.
Elendu Reports have reviewed a video circulating on social media purporting to be Imo House of Assembly complex on fire.
From the pictures we have seen of the Assembly complex it is not the same as the one purported to be on fire.
