THE Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has sacked the General Managers of the state-owed broadcast stations, Dafeni Gogo Abe of Rivers State Television, his Radio Rivers counterpart, Sampson Feberesima and that of the Garden city radio.
The Governor’s action followed the failure of the managers to attend the on-going Annual General Meeting of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, (BON) in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The Governor who announced the sack of the General Managers Monday night when the management of BON led by its Chairman, John Momoh visited him at Government House in Port Harcourt expressed anger that the General Managers of the state-owned broadcast stations could not attend an event hosted in their state.
“I hereby sack the General Managers of the three state-owned broadcast Stations. BON will be here in Rivers State for their AGM and the General Managers of the three state-owned Broadcast Stations are not here, when those from other states are here. People must learn to take their jobs seriously,” Wike was quoted as saying during the visit.
He charged BON to make sure that the votes of Nigerians count in 2019 general election.
