THE Nigerian Senate is not likely to reconvene on Wednesday this week to consider the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) budget as earlier promised by the leadership of the Senate.
The leadership of the Senate it was gathered is still scared of the game plans of the ruling APC particularly the much talked about impeachment of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President.
It will be recalled that after a meeting between the National Assembly leadership and INEC chairman last week, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki announced that the legislative body will take a break from their annual vacation to deal with the budget of INEC this week.
A member of the Senate leadership told Elendu Reports that it would be unwise to reconvene. Asked about the INEC budget he said it had been passed on to the appropriate committee to work on it.
He noted that any attempt by Saraki to reconvene the Senate soon may help the ruling party to actualise its game plan saying ” that it will not be prudent now to come to the Senate.”
“We can reconvene at short notice. Right now it will not be prudent to come back. APC has not given up on their games. In fact they are still planning some more shenanigans,” the Senator told our reporter.
Last week Adams Oshiomhole the chairman of APC boasted that Bukola Saraki would be impeached if he refuses to resign following his defection to the PDP.
“We have to arrest the impending onslaught from these guys,” the senator concluded.
