The Sustainable National Party, (SNP) has called on Nigerians to ignore the recent defections by those it described as ‘unproductive politicians’ to other parties.
The opposition party said the gale of defections between witnessed by Nigerians was a carefully rehearsed and staged drama to disorient the mass of people from the real issues at stake.
Kayode Arimiro, the National Chairman of the Party, disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja where he said that the defection is a common gimmick employed by politicians over the years to distract Nigerians, which shows that the desperate, members of the ruling elite are committed to their pockets and political survival before anything else.
He said: “This drama is played out each time the elite have plundered the country to the level where it becomes glaring that none of what they promised has been fulfilled. In just a decade, we have seen this tactic in 2015, 2011, and 2007”.
” We should ask what happens to those caught paying money for votes. We should ask who released the monies used to buy votes. We should ask the same questions we asked when those in power today were in opposition and struggling to get into office, it is our mark of respect for the hallowed offices that we created from our constitution. it is our duty as citizens to ask these questions, irrespective of who occupies the positions today”.
“We urge Nigerians to focus on the issues of good governance, social justice and accountability, avoiding all the gimmicks, which are all familiar antics of our professional and unproductive politicians” he stressed
The chairman emphasised that instead of falling for the the antics, Nigerians should rather question the politicians and what they’ve done with the power entrusted in them.
He also urged Nigerians to focus on seeking alternative platforms and candidates that will bring fresh thinking into governance of the country.
“Nigerians should support parties that will prioritise the voices of the people. We at SNP are providing that option. SNP is a partnership between the Take Back Nigeria Movement led by the Convener, Comrade Jaye Gaskia, and Sustainable National Party.
“We believe Nigerians should not be starved to the points where their vote must be paid fir before they can eat for just a few days. We believe in the endowments we have in terms of human resources, and that with a judicious utilisation off such endowments, Nigeria can be repositioned to a path of sustainable peace, unity and prosperity”.
