Simon Ekpa, a self-acclaimed follower of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), calling for a boycott of the elections in the south-east has been arrested in Finland.
Ekpa is a Nigerian-Finnish lawyer known for spreading fake news and allegedly inciting violence in southeastern Nigeria.
He was arrested on Thursday by the police at his residence in Lahti, Finland.
The Finnish government recently instructed security agencies in the country to arrest Ekpa within 48 hours if he fails to retract the sit-at-home order in south-east Nigeria.
Helsingin Sanomat, a Finland newspaper said he was scheduled for a newspaper interview before he was arrested.
