The Presidency says the recent threat to blow up major oil installations in the country by the Niger Delta Avengers were as a result of the recent demolition of a property belonging to Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of former President, Goodluck Jonathan .
Personal Assistant to the President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, stated this in a tweet on her twitter handle, @Laurestar, on Thursday.
She accused the militant group of acting the script of the former first lady, adding that her property demolished in Abuja by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) breached the required standards.
She tweets, “Coincidence! Property being developed by Mrs Patience Jonathan without the required permit from FCDA was demolished, as is the custom across the world.
“Within hours, Niger Delta Avengers threatened to resume hostilities to blow up pipelines.
“Who owns the Niger Delta Avengers?”
The militant group, which last year announced a ceasefire following several months of hostilities in the Niger Delta creeks, had on. Wednesday issued a statement calling for a restructuring of the country.
The group vowed to carry out attacks both in the sea and creeks which played host to oil installations if the Federal Government fails to put in place modalities aimed at restructuring the country.
