A political youth group under the aegis of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Volunteers Movement has endorsed the candidature of Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State as the national chairman of the party.
Addressing a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Auwal Alhassan, leader of the group said that Daniel candidature will hallmark excellence, democratic leadership and transparency in the party.
“It may interest you to note that the PDP Volunteers Group has X-rayed all the contestants for the position of PDP national chairman and found out that all them are good but Otunba Gbenga Daniel is found to be the best.
“He has been a strong supporter and lover of PDP and above all, he has the right connections with people from all over the federation to administer good leadership to PDP, as he has served as executive governor.
‘’We therefore, wish to call on all faithful members of our great party, the PDP to save our party by supporting the candidature of this this young, vibrant and dedicated lover of PDP, Otumba Gbenga Daniel, to become our national chairman for excellence, democratic leadership and transparency. With him, we believed, our party will be great again,’’ he said.
Amb. Alhassan, however, commended the efforts of the caretaker committee of the PDP under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Makarfi, for their selfless service to the party towards repositioning the party to greater heights.
‘’The reconciliatory committees and other committees have really performed excellently as the results are evident in the recent wide acceptability of the party at all levels.
He argued that the problems that dragged the party to failure during the 2015 general election was solely due to incompetent leadership.
‘’Having come this far, it is therefore, very important never to repeat such a mistake of leaving our party in the hands of incompetent men,’’ he added.
