Osun guber election: Atiku, Mark, Aregbesola in Osogbo to campaign for ADC candidate

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, the party’s national secretary, and other officials of the opposition party arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Monday ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled August 15 for the Osun governorship election, in which Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor, is seeking re-election.

Adeleke is contesting on the platform of Accord following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku and other ADC leaders are in the state to rally support for Najeem Folasayo Salaam, the party’s governorship candidate, popularly known as Iwaloye.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Atiku, who is also the ADC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, said he arrived in Osogbo with a delegation of political associates to support Salaam and the party ahead of the election.

“I have arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, alongside a delegation of political associates, to stand with our governorship candidate, Dr Najeem Folasayo Salaam (Iwaloye), and our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), at the grand finale of our campaign ahead of Saturday’s governorship election,” he wrote.

Atiku said the delegation would rally support for the ADC candidate and make a final appeal to voters in the state.

“We are here to rally support for our candidate and make a final appeal to the people of Osun State to entrust the ADC with the responsibility of delivering purposeful leadership, good governance and a better future for all,” he added.
