Samuel Ortom, Governor of Benue State has met with Paul Arkwright,United Kingdom (UK) High Commissioner to Nigeria, to seek support for his quest to end the killing of innocent persons in the state by suspected killer herdsmen.
The Governor, who had on Monday led a delegation to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari over the same issue, met behind closed doors with the high commissioner on Tuesday.
According to a tweet by Arkwright on his twitter handle,@PaulTArkwright, the United Kingdom is highly disturbed over the senseless killings of people in Benue State.
While calling for an end to violence in the affected areas, the high commissioner called for the respect of rule of law and the need to provide land for ranches to put an end to the problem.
His tweet : “Good meeting with #Benue Governor Ortom on alarming herder-farmer violence.
“We discussed need for respect for rule of law as well as need for adequate provision of land for ranches. UK consistent in calling for an end to the violence.”
