The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the postponement of its orientation course for the 2017 Batch B stream II potential corp members posted to Benue and Taraba states.
The postponement of the orientation course, is coming on the heels of the several attacks carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Benue State, which have resulted in the death of hundreds of persons.
Announcing the postponement on its twitter handle, @nysc_ng, on Sunday morning, NYSC enjoined the potential corp members to remain calm as a new date would soon be communicated to them.
“The NYSC management wishes to inform all PCMs (Potential Corp Members) deployed to Benue and Taraba states that the 2017 Batch B stream 2 orientation course scheduled to hold in Benue camp has been suspended.
“A new date will be communicated to you in due course,” the tweet said.
It was however gathered that the orientation exercise will still go ahead on 16 January 2018 in other states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
It would be recalled that orientation exercise for new corp members were suspended for years in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states as a result of the deadly threats pose by Boko Haram insurgents.
