Haruna Okatahi, Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Caucus, has said that no governor or National Assembly member from the ruling the party, would defect with Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, who just exited the party.
Okatahi who stated this while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday was reacting to claims by some leaders of the opposition party that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would assume the majority position in the National Assembly before the end of 2018.
He simply said such assumptions was just a daydream.
‘’The youth leader said that APC as a party in power would continue to maintain its majority status in the legislative arm of government both at the Federal and state levels.
‘’I can categorically tell you that no governor elected on the platform of the APC will defect to PDP even as the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has left the party.
‘’An evident of this was what you heard from Jibrilla Bindow, Adamawa State Governor who happens to be Atiku’s political beneficiary,” he said.
He recalled that the Governor was on news recently telling the whole world that he would remain in the APC.
He continued: “Whoever is thinking that the exit of Atiku from the ruling party will lead to defection of governors, senators and House of Representatives members is daydreaming.
He, therefore, expressed confidence that the APC remain the ruling party and would return to power in 2019 because of its achievements.
