Irked by the killing of one of their members by a policeman in the convoy of Speaker of the House Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Abuja Newspapers Distributors Association ( ANDA ) is set to stage a protest at the National Assembly this morning.
The protest will also see the vendors submitting a petition at the Police headquarters to demand justice for the victim.
The President of Abuja Newspaper Distributor Association, Comrade Benji Obute disclosed this in a statement on Friday night.
According to the statement by the Association, it urged all its members to converge at Area 1 on friday morning
adding that newspapers would not
be shared until after the protest.
The union appealed to media houses to cooperate with them to ensure that no paper is leaked out adding that any organisation that violated the directive
would be sanctioned.
It was also gathered that the wife of the slain newspaper vendor allegedly shot by a policeman just put to bed recently and was billed to have the naming ceremony for the baby on Saturday.
Elendu Report had reported how a security detail in the Speaker’s convoy shot and killed one of the newspapers vendors who had besieged his convoy to hail him while waiting in traffic.
