NDC candidates commend Dickson, call for unity After INEC publishes candidates’ list
Candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) whose names were recently published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have commended the party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, for his role in resolving internal disputes and ensuring the successful conclusion of the party’s nomination process.
The publication of the candidates’ list followed weeks of uncertainty and anxiety among aspirants, particularly those contesting seats in the national assembly.
The development is said to have eased tensions within the party and restored confidence among members.
Several candidates described Dickson as a stabilising force whose leadership helped preserve unity within the party during the challenging period of primaries, reconciliation, and candidate nomination.
They also dismissed allegations that party tickets were sold to the highest bidders, insisting that the NDC’s primary elections were conducted in a transparent and credible manner.
According to the candidates, the party leadership remained committed to fairness throughout the process, with no evidence of financial inducement in the allocation of tickets.
Some unsuccessful aspirants equally praised the reconciliation efforts of the party leadership, noting that disagreements arising from the primaries were addressed through dialogue and consultation rather than division.
The candidates and aspirants also urged members who did not secure tickets to remain committed to the party and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for unity in advancing the party’s objectives.
They expressed confidence in the party’s chances at the polls and called on supporters across the country to rally behind all NDC candidates in the presidential, national assembly, and other elections.
The candidates maintained that the party remains committed to strengthening democratic participation and providing a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
