The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Presidency to come out clean on the allegation of bribe taking trailing the payment of multi-billion naira fine imposed on telecommunication giant, MTN.
The leading opposition party in the country described Wednesday decision of the Federal Executive Council (FEC)to approve the payment of N500 million (N.5bn) from the MTN fine as commission to lawyers as an attempt to further shortchange Nigerians.
In a series of tweets on its handle, @OfficialPDPNig, on Thursday afternoon, the party accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration of covering up the massive stench of bribes oozing out from the MTN deal.
“The failed @MBuhari and his administration have a lot of questions to answer on how the fine was reduced to N330 billion, particularly on the face of allegations that certain interests, said to be very close to @MBuhari, allegedly took a bribe of N500 million before the reduction.
“We charge President Muhammadu @mbuhari to come out clear on allegations of corruption and sharp practices that have pervaded the recovery of the N1.03tn fine imposed on MTN Nigeria.”
