Controversy between Ibrahim Idris, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Isa Misau, Senator representing Bauchi Central in the Senate is not ending soon, as the latter as accused the former of breaching official secrecy with the documents he tendered in courts.
Misau said the IGP exposed documents that ordinarily be official top secret especially, communications that transpired between the President and sensitive members of his cabinet.
He took to the Twitter on Thursday to defend himself after he appeared before the Senate Committee investigating him and was reported to have accused wife of the President, Aisha Buhari of collecting two Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) from the IGP.
In his tweets, Misau said denied making any allegation against the President’s wife.
He wrote on the Twitter: “For the avoidance of doubt, I did not make any allegations against the person of the highly revered Wife of the President @aishambuhari.
“In addressing the Committee, my comments referenced court docs filed in Charge (CR/345/17) against me at the FCT High Court by IGP Idris.
“IGP Idris LEAKED correspondence w/ @MBuhari, COS, Dir. NIPSS, ADC @aishambuhari & CPSO @MBuhari to d public in docs filed at FCT H/Court.
“IGP Idris LEAKED correspondence w/ @MBuhari, COS, Dir. NIPSS, ADC @aishambuhari & CPSO @MBuhari to d public in docs filed at FCT H/Court.
“Shocked to find docs & minutes of @MBuhari & top govt officials carelessly paraded in public by IGP in clear BREACH of Official Secrecy.
“I query d motive behind such indiscretion given tht said docs have little or no bearing on d matter of malpractice @PoliceNG. Suspicious!
“My submission to the C’ttee was simply to call attention to how IGP Idris is unethically dropping names by filing secret docs in Court.
“Again, I make it abundantly clear: IGP Idris submitted official docs mentioning names of respected personalities. NOT ME.
“I urge the press and public to be wary of any attempt to obfuscate the issues. Indeed, eternal vigilance is the price for freedom.”
