Tukur Mamu, the Publisher of Desert Herald newspaper and the negotiator of the abducted March 28 Abuja-Kaduna-bound train passengers, has been arrested in Egypt.
According to media reports, Mamu was picked up at the Cairo International Airport while awaiting a connecting flight to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday by Interpol.
Mamu, the spokesperson of the Kaduna-based cleric, Sheikh Gumi, negotiated the release of some of the victims of the abducted train passengers.
He later announced his withdrawal as the lead negotiator in securing the release of the abductees after he alleged a threat to his life by the Federal Government.
It was, however, learnt that Mamu was flown back to Nigeria by Interpol in the early hours of Wednesday after he was interrogated, and nothing was found incriminating against him.
