Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno South who was remanded at Kuje prison for failing to produce the former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina in court.
Ndume was sent to prison on Monday 23rd November by the court.
Ruling on the senator’s bail application on Friday, Justice Abang said he was minded to order Ndume’s release from prison because he has exhibited “good behaviour” since he became Maina’s surety.
Maina is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegation of fraud, abuse of public office and money laundering.
He is believed to have jumped bail.
