Ayo Arise, a former Senator from Ekiti State is feared to have been kidnapped by armed men Sunday evening while travelling to Abuja through Kogi State.
Arise who represented Ekiti North in the National Assembly between 2007 and 2011, under the banner of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), shortly before the Governorship elections that ousted former Governor Kayode Fayemi in 2015.
He was said to have attended some events over the weekend in Ado Ekiti, the state capital and Ikere Ekiti on Saturday, while he took part in a golf knock around with friends on Sunday at the Ado Ekiti Golf Club along Poly Road, Ado Ekiti.
At Ikere Ekiti, on Saturday, he attended an event, where the former Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Tunde Ogunsakin and his wife were conferred with chieftaincy titles and was on his cback to his base in the Federal capital, when he was waylaid by the bandits.
Sources close to the family confirmed the incident but refused to speak more on the incident, as there no contact has been made by his abductors as at press time.
Recently, Rafiu Isiaka, a former member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, and one, Jacob Olugbade were abducted by some gunmen. They were released after spending 11 days in captivity.
