INEC declares Ademola Adeleke winner of Osun governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the Osun state governorship election.

Joshua Ogunwole, INEC returning officer (RO), announced Adeleke, candidate of the Accord, as the winner of the election after polling 511067 votes to defeat his close challenger Bole Oyebamiji, candidate of the All Progressives Progress (APC), who polled 444815 votes.

“I, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, the returning officer, therefore, declare that Ademola Adeleke of the Accord, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes in this election is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,”  Ogunwole said.

Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was a distant third with 17,180 votes.

The election was held across the state on Saturday, with voters casting their ballots to elect the governor who will administer Osun for the next four years.
