Chidi Nwogu, a former member of House of Representatives says he would enhance increased participation of members in party activities if he is elected the National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming National Convention of the party.
“I am determined to offer myself as an instrument for democratization in our party and nation,” said Nwogu who declared his intention to run for the seat in Abuja on Tuesday at a press briefing.
The National Convention of APC where National Executives of the party would be elected is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Abuja.
“As a patriot and a loyal party man, I have decided to stand for election for the office of National Organizing Secretary in the impending National Convention,” Nwogu said
The former lawmaker said he would initiate strategies for free, fair and transparent process in the conduct of party primaries and appointment of members for assignment within the party.
“Throughout history, the essence of forming a political party has been to have a platform with an ideology to drive democracy, achieve mass participation of the populace in the political process for the election of leaders and ensure economic development,” he said
While noting that Nigeria, with about 200million people cannot afford to fail black race, he said “ we must develop our parties to deepen democracy and economic development through mass participation of the populace in political activities.”
According to him, APC stands a chance to put Nigeria on the map of solid democracies with well-developed political parties.
