Former governor of Nassarawa State and serving member of the Senate says he was not arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A social media report claimed that Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura and his wife, Mairo were arrested Wednesday afternoon by the EFCC.
In a chat with Elendu Reports around midnight, Sen. Al Makura said, “I was invited by EFCC and shown a petition against me and told to respond to the petition”.
“I did not spend more than one hour at the offices of the EFCC and yet some mischief-makers have gone to town claiming I was arrested.”
The former governor who served for two terms as governor of Nassarawa State said rumours of his arrest were being peddled by those who are trying to truncate his ambition to contest for the chairmanship of his party, the APC.
“These people are trying to mess with my name by associating me with some malfeasance because of my chairmanship ambition. They have failed. As I speak with you I am in my house with my wife,” Sen. Al Makura told Elendu Reports.
Mairo, the former first lady also spoke with our reporter on other issues.
