The Zone 2 Vigilante Commander in Sapele, Delta state, Victor Asikolo, has been reportedly killed by gunmen.
Reports say that Asikolo was murdered at about 6:00 pm, on Friday, Feb 4, along Okpe road, close to licensing office near Awolowo road junction,
According to Vanguard, Asikolo was driving a Sienna car when suddenly a car double-crossed him where he was shot severally by yet to be identified gunmen .
The incident has caused tension in the community as Youths took to the streets vowing to take revenge. Members of the vigilante group were equally seen on the streets.
A member of the vigilante group who pleaded anonymity attributed the attack to cult boys in the community.
“They are just starting, we won’t give up” one of the vigilantes member said
Elendu Reports gathered that security agencies, including operatives of Police and Delta Hawk, were on ground to restore law and order.
Voke Ubuara, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in the state, confirmed the attack saying that Asikolo was trailed and shot dead.
