Rev. Fr. Mark Ojotu, a priest of the Catholic Dioceses of Otukpo and Chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital, Okpoga, in Benue State, has been abducted by an armed gang, according to the Nigeria Catholic Network.
Rev. Fr was abducted on Thursday, December 22, 2022.
The Network quoted a statement by Rev. Fr. Joseph Aboyi Itodo, the Diocesan Chancellor, released to the National Directorate of Social Communications in Abuja, that Fr. Ojotu was abducted at about 5:00 pm along Okpoga-Ojapo Road, Okpokwu LGA of Benue State.
Most Rev. Michael Apochi, the Bishop of the Diocese, has called on all Christ’s faithful in and beyond the Diocese “to earnestly pray for his quick and safe release as we intensify efforts to ensure his release.”
The statement further commended Fr. Ojotu “and all those in the kidnappers’ den throughout the country to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for their speedy and safe release from the hands of their abductors.”
