Abubakar Sani Bello, Governor of Niger State has been appointed as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Caretaker Committee.
Bello replaces Mai Mala Buni, who was until Monday morning was the chairman of the committee but was removed on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Multiple sources informed Elendu Reports that Governor Bello was already in a meeting members of the committee to implement the change of leadership ordered by President Buhari.
He was seen in a video arriving the National Secretariat of the party and took over the chairman’s seat.
The Niger governor arrived at about 12p.m. and went straight to the National Working Committee (NWC) Hall.
When Bello came, he also parked his official vehicle at the designated parking lot of the “National Chairman”.
He was soon followed by the National Secretary of the CECPC, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe who came into the secretariat at 12:07p.m.
Earlier on Monday, John Akpanudoedehe, National Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee denied the removal of Buni.
Akpanudoedehe in a statement said the media report about leadership change in the APC was fake news and asked members of the party and the general public to disregard the report.
However, it was learned on Monday that Governor Bello of Niger State has arrived at the National Secretariat of the APC in Abuja to replace Buni as the chairman of the caretaker committee of the party.
It would be recalled that Buni took over the leadership of the party in June 2020 following the sack of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole- led National Working Committee.
