Former Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly, Ahmed Gulak is dead.
He was a Special Adviser, political to former President Goodluck Jonathan until 2014 when he was relieved of his position.
Ahmed Gulak was on his way to the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, in a public cab with another passenger when they ran into a checkpoint of unknown gunmen near the airport. Sources told Elendu Reports that he was in Owerri for a meeting relating to the review of Nigeria’s constitution but it was not immediately clear if he was representing his party, the APC.
According to eyewitness reports, the gunmen numbering about eight already had two victims when they stopped Gulak’s car. Only one of the gunmen was masked.
Our source said that Gulak and another person from Rivers State were in the back seat of the car taking them to the airport.
On stopping the vehicle, one of the gunmen opened the back door of the vehicle and immediately recognised Gulak and the person with him in the car.
The gunman spoke with Gulak’s co-passenger in a Rivers State dialect. As they were talking, another gunman opened fire on Ahmed Gulak. He died on the spot.
Gulak’s co-passenger and the driver were not harmed.
