Worried by the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and waste materials across the country which have continued unabated, the federal government said it will introduce environmental whistleblowers in all the 36 states. belosalic order
Lawrence Anukam, Director-General of National Environmental Standards Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), disclosed this in Abuja at a news briefing ahead of 2017 11th National Stakeholders’ Forum and celebration of NESREA’s 10th anniversary.
He stated that the agency will come up with strong recommendations for the way forward after 10th anniversary and intensify its efforts in ensuring NESREA has at least, one office across the 36 states of the federation, stressing that the agency already has 24 offices across the country.

His words: “The way people dump waste, create noise, everything must come through environmental standards,
“Development is not at variance to do with issues of environment. Energy in a form of renewable energy, clean up mechanism.
“If we get it right through effective governance, we would achieve a green economy. We can’t achieve it where we don’t have environmental governance.
“Deepen knowledge and understanding of environmental governance is a factor at achieving sustainable economy and how we can put our green agenda,” he said.
Anukam added that having a serene environment enhances business growth, encouraged individuals and industry to corroborate the relentless efforts of the agency in achieving its goal.
“Make sure our vehicles are properly serviced. Greening the industry is using production process that will never lead to environmental hazards.
“In developing industries, we are looking at those aspects of sustainable production. Environmental protection in the industry makes good business,” he said.
