LONG time personal lawyer for President Donald Trump has pleaded guilty to eight-count charge in a court in New York.
Michael Cohen, who has been Trump’s lawyer for at least 12 years told a Judge that he acted “in coordination and at the direction of a candidate for federal office.” The said candidate is Donald Trump.
Cohen, generally regarded as a “fixer” for Trump, pleaded guilty to bank fraud, tax evasion and contravening campaign finance laws.
Cohen potentially could forfeit millions of dollars to US government in addition to many years in prison.
The former personal lawyer to the US President parted ways with him when two women, a former porn star and a playboy mate accused Trump of paying hush money to them. Cohen paid Stormy Daniels the former porn star $130,000 a few months before the 2016 election.
The second woman, Karen McDougal, was paid $150,000.
Meanwhile, the former campaign chairman for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016 was found guilty in eight of 18 charges by a Virginia jury this afternoon.
The jury convicted Paul Manafort of bank fraud, tax evasion, failure to report income from foreign businesses.
Manafort is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison.
